Visiting friends in Sedona some time ago, for movie night. The film they had selected was “Only the Brave”, about the Yarnell Hill Fire (near Prescott, AZ). It the 10 year anniversary of this historic and tragic event, which I knew nothing about. It was a sad and compelling story about 19 Arizona firefighters who died while fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire on June 30th, 2013. The link to the wiki about the fire is here. This is not the point of this post. The film triggered me thinking about my Uncle (Noel Pyers) - who I remembered was a forest (wild) firefighter as young man and served in this capacity for the Coronado National Forest Service, for most of his working career. A little research proved my memory correct. I am working on providing the links to this newspaper articles via newspapers.com - but one may need an account to view.
